FEE
ARRANGEMENTS
When
you retain my firm, you will have a clear understanding of the nature
and extent of the work I am authorized to perform. Prior to entering
into an agreement. I will discuss your legal problem, the remedies
available and the work required to resolve it. I will estimate the
time and legal expense involved. If, as work progresses, there are
unexpected developments that result in a longer time period or greater
expense than anticipated, I will let you know as soon as this becomes
apparent.
In
most matters our fees are based upon the time and the responsibility
involved. Some work is done on an hourly basis. For other matters,
a fixed fee is appropriate. Some cases are handled on a contingent
fee basis, wherein the fee for legal services is a percentage of
the amount of money obtained for you.
I
will discuss the fee arrangement with you during your first conference
with me. For some matters, I will be able to give you a reasonable
estimate of the total charge. For others, I will tell you how the
fee will be determined. Hourly matters are billed monthly, In unusual
circumstances, I will make other arrangements.
For
some matters, I will require an advance payment, known as a retainer,
to be applied toward the fee. The retainer is based on fees charged
for similar matters. Retainers are deposited in my trust account
and used to pay my fee on monthly basis. Please feel free to discuss
fee and billing arrangements with me. Back
